Here is how you can "play along" on this website.
- First, make yourself at home. Browse around, see what interests you, read what other people have written.
- Second, be polite. I'm the host here, and everyone will find this useful if we respect common courtesies. Here's a bit of what this means arond here.
- You're welcome to edit any page on this site. To edit a page, use the little "Edit This Page" link in the footer of the page you want to edit. It is polite to add a summary and a username in the form when you edit, so that all users of this site can see who edited what. Why would you want to edit? There are plenty of reasons.
- You could fix a typo. We all make erors in our spelling, and sometimes we don't pick them up.
- You could add a comment. When you do that, it's polite to add a little link to the comment to indicate that it's not by the original author of the page. Like this — Greg
- You could rearrange things to make them clearer.
- Or you could add a link to other material on the web. Links outside are easy to make, like this.
- Or you could add a link to another page on this site you've made. Links to other pages on this site are by name, like this Proof and Counterexample.
Adding New Stuff
- To add a new page, there are two things you can do.
- You can edit an existing page and add a link to the new page by writing the name of the page in double square brackets, like this:
[[New Page]]. Save the page you're editing and you'll find a little question mark after New Page. Select that, and you'll get the form to edit the New Page. Write your material, sign it, and save it, and your new page will be there for everyone to see. - Or you can look in your browser address field, where it says
http://consequently.org/edit/page. Add in the name of a page you want to add, like this: http://consequently.org/edit/page/your_new_page_here, and then, edit the page you get. Once you've done that, link to the page from somewhere, so other readers can get to your new page.
- Try it out, by first editing in the Sand Box, a safe place to edit to get used to the how the system works.
- Once you've had a play there, browse around, add stuff, fix typos, ask questions and generally make yourself at home.
- Of course, if you make destructive changes, other users of the site can ‘roll-back’ the changes you've made. (This especially applies to spammers, or other people who exploit the space for purposes for which it isn't intended.) I reserve the right to edit away any changes that I deem to be against the spirit of the site. (Of course, you have that right too.)
Keeping Up
- If you want to be kept up-to-date with changes to the site, you can subscribe to the RSS file with your favourite newsreader. On my PowerBook, I use the free version of NetNewsWire.
- The Recent Changes page shows you what's been changed, recently.
- The All Pages link in the top bar shows all of the pages on the site, and the links page shows what page links to what. (This is especially nice as it includes all of the pages with Meinongian links — links to nonexistent pages. Feel free to make the nonexistent existent by creating the required pages!)

There are lots of wikis online.
